Strawb update

The strawbs seem to be flowering eatlier than last year. This year we had a very warm period earlier in the month which probably advanced the flowering.

Spud update

I have sown 2 batches of primroses in pots outside. The primrose seed I sowed on 23 March this year are coming up, but I thought I'd sow a few more.

French Beans sown

I decided not to grow runner beans again as last year's were tough and inedible. I'm trying French beans this year.

These are the seeds from the packet I bought. None of the seeds I saved from last year's plants (sown in another batch) came up. In the batch above, one seed germinated early, but the remainder of the seedlings above came up much later. Most of the seeds didn't germinate.

I sowed the phlox later this year, hopefully this will avoid the leggy seedlings I got last year.

Spuds planted

I planted 3 rows of potatoes in this bed (forgot to take a pic of the 3rd row being planted). I'm using the same bed as last year. I have some spuds left over, which I hope to plant in the next couple of days. I used plastic netting to screen off the bed as I have still not managed to stop the foxes entering the garden.

It was sunny and warm today, so I'm taking a chance and leaving the tomatoes outside in the mini greenhouse tonight. I have weighted the mini greenhouse down with a half paving slab on the bottom shelf.

More seed sown

Sowed marigold and aster seed. Also sowed seed from what I call the daisy plant.

Toms potted up

1 monetmaker and 1 marmande failed to germinate.
