Lawn bed planted up

This year I bought some begonias and pelargoniums (sold as geraniums), as I couldn't get any phlox or asters to germinate. I also planted out rudbeckia, antirrhinum and cornflowers which I grew from seed.

More seed sown

Today I sowed some phlox, aster and courgette seeds. I also sowed some of the butternut squash seed I saved a few weeks ago. I sowed another batch of marigold seed as none of the original seed I sowed a few weeks ago came up, and I sowed some more antirrhinum

More seed sown

I have sown foxglove, antirrhinum and cornflower seeds.  I also sowed some morning glory seed from a packet that I bought several years ago but never opened (the use by year on the packet is 2010).  I didn't soak the seed overnight as suggested.

Mini greenhouse

I bought this mini greenhouse from Wilkinsons a few weeks ago for £12.00, but I think the price was subsequently reduced by 20%. As the weather is nice today I assembled it for the first time. I put the antirrhinum and capsicum seedlings in it, but will take them in tonight to be on the safe side.

Survivors

These are asters and antirrhinums that have been in the cold frame on the patio. The impatiens that I had also put on the patio all died. Managing all these seedlings (as well as more which I am putting out during the day and returning to the garage at night, plus those indoors on the window sill) in this cold weather has been a bit of a pain. As mentioned in an earlier post, next year I will sow everything later, apart from the tomatoes.

The forecast is for it to remain cold until at least next weekend.

More Antirrhinums potted up

These are the seedlings that have remained indoors since sowing - they're much larger than those I potted up and put in the cold frame some time ago.

Why don't they call them 'warm frames'?

The seedlings under my makeshift cold frame are not doing too well. Some of the impatiens have died. It's evidently too cold. Luckily, I kept some impatiens and antirrhinum seedlings indoors, and they're doing ok.

Antirrhinums potted up

I would have potted up some more but I'm running out of pots.
