Front garden mulched
About a week ago I weeded then mulched the front bed. The mulch required about 5 bags of compost.
Prior to mulching I planted some iris reticulata that were in a container and didn't flower very well last spring - I hope they might do better planted in the ground.

Front Garden
No wallflowers this year as building work next door prevented me from getting the plants through my side entrance last autumn.

Rudbeckia planted out
I was a bit unsure about planting out the rudbeckia during a heatwave, but was also afraid they would begin to suffer if I waited much longer.
I also cut back the oxalis.

Euphorbias pruned and cuttings taken
I cut all the flowering stems from the euphorbia, then selected a few of the remaining non-flowering stems to take as cuttings.

Preparing for summer bedding
The Sweet Williams had kept some interest going in the front garden (see previous post), but now it's time to get ready for the summer bedding. I cut the oxalis back (as I did last year) to allow easier access for weeding and to free up some space.

Oxalis tidied up
When I planted out the summer bedding in the front garden I ripped out some of the oxalis foliage to make some room. I noticed a few days later that the oxalis had generated some nice fresh leaves in place of what I had removed.
Today I took a chance and ripped out the remaining oxalis foliage, which is looking rather tired now, in the hope that it will all regenerate.

Front garden update
The wallflowers have collapsed - they were very spindly when I transplanted them from the bottom of the back garden - I think I planted them out too close together last autumn.
