Spring onions sown

Today I dug over the large veg bed, weeded it, then sowed some spring onion seed. Hope they're more successful than last year, when none came up. The birds may have got them last year, so this year I've covered the seeds.

More seed sown

Today I sowed some phlox, aster and courgette seeds. I also sowed some of the butternut squash seed I saved a few weeks ago. I sowed another batch of marigold seed as none of the original seed I sowed a few weeks ago came up, and I sowed some more antirrhinum

Morning Glory update

The morning glory seedlings were romping away, so I took a chance and planted them out today. I only hardened them off for one day.

Some cold nights are forecast but I hope the position I planted them in is a bit sheltered (position of plants is marked with canes).

Houttuynia Cordata update

One of the tubs is doing well, the other less so.

Tomatoes update

The results of the first sowing of tomatoes were rather disappointing - only 6 of the 18 seeds germinated. I therefore sowed a few more a couple of weeks ago, which can be seen as the smaller seedlings above. Today I potted up the plants from the first sowing.

First spuds of season sown

I sowed some charlottes (which I bought from the supermarket and chitted for a couple of weeks) in the old strawberry bed.  I will sow some more in about a month to try to achieve a staggered crop.

Here's the first of the three rows that I planted.
