Pelargonium update

I moved the 120 pelargonium cuttings into the porch. I spaced them out more than last year, when the crowding together resulted in some dying.

More green manure sown, plus spinach

I sowed green manure in the two remaining veg beds. I took more time in raking the seed in (after having dug the beds, raked, then trod it down as recommended on the packet). I also sowed a row of perennial spinach.

First green manure sown

I've now dug up all the spuds from batch 2, so the green manure has been sown. I used a whole packet of seeds, which was probably too much.

The Anemone has just started flowering, but it's white, not the 'vivid purple' as stated on the box.

All four Euonymus survived. Have also just moved them into separate pots.

Armeria update

Slow growing but doing ok.

Back Garden

Taken a week or so ago.

Saxifraga Triumph update

Grown considerably since I bought it in April. I took it out of the pot to see if the root system would allow it to be split, but I wasn't confident that it would work. The seed I sowed earlier didn't germinate. Will have to buy some more plants.

Spuds batch 3 planted

Having harvested all the spuds from the old greenhouse bed, I planted some more (which is batch 3 for the year).

I planted 16 spuds but one looked a bit iffy.

Heuchera and Saxifraga Triumph seeds sown

It appears some of the Saxifraga seeds I sowed on 25 June may be germinating...

So I decided to sow some more, along with some Heuchera seed. For each type of seed, I sowed uncovered and covered (using a little garden soil to cover rather than compost)...

Broad Bean update

Lots of blackfly. I opened some pods but the beans were very small.

Wallflowers planted out

Runner Bean update

The first batch of runner beans failed to germinate, but then I realised the best before date on the packet was 2011. I bought some more and they have come up...

First spuds of season harvested

The potato plants from batch 1 have just about died so I lifted 3 plants today. Was a little disappointed by the yield but these were the spuds that I sowed too near the path so I wasn't able to earth them up.

Broad Bean update

Courgette update

Have already harvested some baby courgettes.

Spinach update

Tomato update

Bergenia update

Very slow growing - I potted up the seedlings today. Put the pots in water as I used very dry compost.

Heuchera seed collected

I cut off the fading flowers (which have tiny white specks on them that I assume are the seeds) and put them in a paper bag.

Rock Rose update

Potted on some of the Rock Roses.

Saxifraga Triumph seed sown

I sowed some of the seed I collected earlier this year.

Pansy cuttings taken

I took some pansy cuttings, putting them in a plastic bag this time so hopefully they won't fail like the last cuttings I took.

btw, these are pansies, the courgette label is just to support the plastic bag!

Pansy update,and Armeria seed sown

The pansies I sowed on 20 March are developing flowers. I sowed some more seed in case the existing plants get a bit too big by the autumn.

I also sowed some armeria seed after soaking them overnight.
