Pennisetum aftercare
Feed and water regularly until fully established. In autumn, apply a dry mulch such as bark or straw to protect the plant over winter. In spring, remove dead foliage and lift and divide clumps every third year to maintain their vigour.

Houttuynia Cordata divided
Two pots of Houttuynia Cordata started to look a bit iffy which I assumed was due to congestion, so I divided the plants and repotted a few pieces.

Fresh Armeria seed sown
The Armeria seed that I sowed from the packet back in March failed to germinate.
I therefore collected some seed from the current plants and sowed it today.

What's been good in the garden so far this year
Armeria and Oxalis Purpurea (Oxalis now looking a bit rough).
Dianthus Coconut Sundae - now past its best.
Heuchera with red flowers - still going strong.
Red Heuchera - hope to divide this soon.
Tradescantia
Lilies - now coming to end of flowering.
Suggested replacements for those plants now going over - Tuberous Begonia, Coleus, Pelargonium, Heuchera, Anemone.

Heuchera divided
I divided one dark and one light Heuchera. One of each I planted out, and one of each I planted in containers. Some odd bits of each I put in compost.

Sweet Williams dug up
Sweet Williams coming to an end so I dug them up and replaced with Coleus. I may plant Sweet William seedlings (seen in front of bed above) in containers later in the year rather than in bed (although I may not have enough Wallflower/Polyanthus to fill bed above in autumn).

Pentland Javelin potatoes planted
I dug up all the spuds from the greenhouse bed. Hope I can store them successfully. I then planted 3 rows of 5 Pentland Javelins in the greenhouse bed. These are the seed potatoes I bought back in April. They looked a bit shrivelled, but we'll see what happens.
I still have some Pentlands left, but I'm not sure I can lift and store all the spuds still in the main veg bed (none of which I have harvested), so I may have to abandon the remaining seed potatoes.

First spuds harvested
The foliage was going yellow so I dug up a few plants. We've had very little rain this year, and I'd watered the spuds a few times. Harvest not too bad

Oxalis tidied up
When I planted out the summer bedding in the front garden I ripped out some of the oxalis foliage to make some room. I noticed a few days later that the oxalis had generated some nice fresh leaves in place of what I had removed.
Today I took a chance and ripped out the remaining oxalis foliage, which is looking rather tired now, in the hope that it will all regenerate.
